Art Auction to Benefit the Wichita Chamber Chorale

The Wichita Chamber Chorale, lauded as the area’s premier adult choral ensemble, and the Perry Berns Gallery of Dallas, Texas, will together host an art exhibition and auction on Saturday, October 17, 2009, at CityArts, 334 N. Mead in the Old Town Plaza.

The exhibition of approximately 200 works of art begins at 6:15 p.m. and the auction will begin at 7 p.m. A portion of the sales will directly benefit the Chorale in their upcoming 2009-2010 season, which features the Sounding Joy holiday concert in December and the Choral Classics concert in March.

Owner Perry Berns will be the emcee and auctioneer for the evening. Mr. Berns has more than 30 years experience in successful fundraising for nonprofit organizations and arranges 50 to 60 auctions each year. All works are custom-framed and will be accompanied by a certificate of authenticity.

Chorale board president Spencer Stelljes encourages both experienced and beginning collectors, everyday art lovers, and Chorale supporters to attend. Winning bids are expected to be at a fraction of gallery prices.

“The atmosphere is fun and educational, not at all intimidating, and hors d’oeuvres, beverages, and a little musical entertainment, along with Perry’s diverse selection of art, will make for a great evening,” Stelljes said.

A suggested donation of $5 will help with expenses and enter each person in a drawing for a free work of art.
