The Wichita Chamber Chorale will be featured at the Kansas Choral Directors Association’s 2009 Summer Conference July 10 in Topeka.
The Chorale will perform under guest conductor John Buehler in an evening concert at Topeka’s Grace Episcopal Cathedral. The KCDA Women’s Choir will open the concert, which begins at 7:30 p.m.
Buehler will be honored during the conference with the 2009 Harry Robert Wilson Award, presented annually to a Kansas choral director who has demonstrated a high level of commitment and contribution to the choral art in Kansas.
Buehler recently retired from Baker University where he served for 25 years as a professor and chair of the music department.
The Wichita Chamber Chorale will perform a concert this week as part of the American Guild of Organists regional convention.
The chorale will perform at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 16, at First Presbyterian Church, 525 N. Broadway in Wichita.
The Chamber Chorale’s program will open with “Fanfare” for organ by William Mathias, played by David Josefiak.
The chorale will sing works by Gerald Finzi, Felix Mendelssohn, Louis Vierne and J.S. Bach. The program will conclude with Zoltan Kodaly’s majestic “In Praise of Organs” for chorus and organ.

The Wichita Chamber Chorale will present Cabaret 2009, its major fund-raising concert, at 7:30 p.m. June 9 at Cabaret Old Town, 412 1/2 E. Douglas, Wichita.
The show features WCC members performing popular and comedic numbers both in solo and group arrangements. Pre-show entertainment will be provided by the Lower Room Band. Free hors d’oeuvres will be served during the performance.

Under the direction of Robert Glasmann, the chorale will perform an all-Bach program with full orchestra.
